Our Expertise
The deregulation of the German and European energy industry has increased the importance of and interest in scientifically substantiated analyses of the current situation and of future developments on the energy markets. Markets, corporate structures and regulation processes are subject to continuous change, energy policy is influenced more and more by environmental aspects and matters concerning the economic sustainability and security of energy supply are of primary significance.
EWI analyses companies and markets to provide decision makers in public policy and the private sector with a sound decision basis. Based on its analyses and scenarios, EWI advises political institutions, such as the German Federal Government, state governments and a variety of associations, as well as a large variety of energy companies, from municipalities to global players. The research and consulting activities in the energy industry and energy policy focus on energy markets modelling and scenario analysis.
As part of the staff's research activities at EWI, methods, models and databases are developed, which are applied to topical issues on energy economics and energy policy and which are used in consulting activities. By the combination of research and many years of consultancy, the relevance to practice, together with scientific rigor is always a key aim of EWI.
The list of our projects and of our published studies together with the applied models (see right) will give you an overview of the topics and main areas of focus for EWI's research and consultancy work.
If you would like more detail about the possibilities of working with EWI, please contact the Head of Applied Research, PD Dr. Christian Growitsch and PD Dr. Dietmar Lindenberger.
