Research Consultant (w/m/d)

Become part of EWI’s team and implement exciting projects concerning, for example, the ‘energy transition’, market design and regulation, energy trading, or developments in the global gas or oil markets. You will analyze these and other topics using modern economic methods, advise decision-makers from industry and politics and work with a lot of responsibility in a young, brilliant team. You will quickly go from being a career starter to an expert in energy markets through your work with us. In addition, you will establish high-ranking contacts in the energy industry and energy policy.

We are looking for you as soon as possible for the position of Research Consultant (m/w/d) for the Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne gGmbH (EWI).

Your tasks

  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis of German, European, and global energy markets
  • Analysis of current issues regarding decarbonization, decentralization, and digitalization of the energy system
  • Implementation of consulting projects for industrial clients and political decision-makers
  • Acquisition, planning, and implementation of longer-term research projects
  • Contribution to studies and workshops with our network partners
  • Writing short articles on current developments of the electricity/gas market
  • Presenting results to executives from the energy industry and politics
  • Representation of the EWI at professional congresses and similar events
  • Working hours: Full-time

What you offer

  • Completed doctorate or significant professional experience in the field of economics and energy
  • Excellent degree in economics, industrial engineering, engineering, or other quantitative subjects with economic relevance
  • Well above average analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Profound knowledge of the German and the European electricity/gas market
  • Knowledge of computer-based modeling is an advantage
  • Creativity for solving complex problems
  • Excellent verbal and written expression and reasoning skills in German and English language
  • Independent, self-reliant, reliable, and precise work
  • Confident, customer-oriented appearance
