The Theodor Wessels Prize was awarded during a festive ceremony in Cologne. The Theodor Wessels Foundation of the EWI Alumni Association of Graduates and Friends of the Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne e.V. awards the prize every two years for scientific work in the field of energy economics that makes a significant contribution to clarifying operational and economic issues in the energy industry or to solving important energy policy tasks. The prize is endowed with a total of €10,000.

The award was presented by Dr. Claudia Eßer-Scherbeck, Chair of the Board of the Theodor Wessels Foundation. The prize will be awarded again in 2027 and is intended to motivate young researchers to address current and future issues in the energy industry.
