In a recent report, BET and EWI, commissioned by the BMWE, analyze various studies on the energy transition through a meta-analysis. From the inventory, action options to increase cost efficiency are derived.

Cologne, 15. September 2025 | BET and EWI have published a monitoring of the energy transition in Germany based on existing studies. The topics of electricity demand, renewable energies, power grids, hydrogen, supply security, and digitalization were considered. The report shows, among other things, that improved interaction between supply, demand, and infrastructure can lead to greater cost efficiency. A number of fields of action and options are discussed in this regard.

The report “Energiewende. Effizient. Machen – Monitpringbericht zum Start der 21. Legislaturperiode”, also known as the Energy Transition Monitoring, was jointly prepared by BET Consulting and the Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne (EWI) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). The report is a meta-analysis of the existing study landscape.
