As part of its analysis “Analysis of the system value of solar tracking systems in Germany,” the EWI examines the market and system value of solar tracking PV systems in comparison to fixed installations.

The evaluation of two exemplary systems for 2024 shows that tracking would have achieved a 43 percent higher market value. The net system value (market value minus system and grid costs) is also more than twice as high. In addition, the higher full-load hours could save around €3.2 billion in grid expansion costs by 2030, as less PV capacity is needed for the same feed-in to achieve the EEG targets.
