The coalition agreement for the 21st legislative period formulates the objective to conduct a “monitoring of the energy transition” Six different topic areas are examined: the expected electricity demand, the state of supply security, the state of grid expansion, the state of renewable energy expansion, the state of digitalization, and the state of hydrogen ramp-up. This study was commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic and Energy (BMWE) to BET Consulting GmbH and the Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne as subcontractors under the framework agreement of Department III. This report documents the work and results.
