Analysis of supply security until 2030

A reduction in controllable capacity as well as an increase in demand can have a negative impact on the security of electricity supply, especially in extreme weather situations with lower availability of renewable energies. This can be counteracted by additional imports as well as an accelerated expansion of renewable energies, especially in combination with additional storage capacities. This EWI analysis examines the impact of these influencing factors on the security of supply in Germany in the years 2025 to 2030 using an electricity market model in conjunction with data on historical extreme weather situations.
