Dr. Ann-Kathrin Klaas

Head of Research Area

Dr.-Ing. Ann-Kathrin Klaas joined the EWI as Project Lead in 2023 and is Head of Research Area since 2024. She is responsible for the topics of hydrogen and natural gas economy as well as the heat transition. Her focus here is on techno-economic analyses as well as the systemic and macroeconomic interrelationships of the existing markets in the natural gas and heat sector, as well as the emerging hydrogen market. In this context, she also leads the hydrogen and heat transition research programs at EWI. Before joining the EWI, she completed her doctorate at the Institute for Electrical Power Engineering and Energy Systems in the field of energy systems technology at Clausthal University of Technology on the topic of hydrogen storage. Before that, she studied energy technologies and energy systems engineering, also at Clausthal University of Technology and at Lulea University of Technology (Sweden).
