Prof. Dr. Felix Höffler
has been a full professor of economics at the University of Cologne since 2011. He also acts as Research Director and Member of the Management Board of the Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne. After studying history, politics, and economics at the University of Tübingen, his PhD studies took him to the University of Bonn, the London School of Economics and Political Science and to the University of Basel, where he received his doctorate in 1999.
Afterwards, he worked outside academia for about six years in policy consulting and business, before he joined the Max Planck Institute for Collective Goods, Bonn. From 2007 until 2010, Höffler held the Deutsche Post Foundation Endowed Chair of Regulatory Economics at the WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management at Koblenz / Vallendar. His research focuses on industrial economics, specifically with regulated network industries like energy, telecommunication, and transport.
