The Institute of Energy Economics (EWI) offers trainings on energy economics topics for policy and practice.

The Institute of Energy Economics (EWI) at the University of Cologne sees itself as a knowledge factory that creates, disseminates and harnesses knowledge about complex energy markets. From applied research and consulting as well as academic teaching, it has in-depth know-how on current issues, challenges and trends in the energy industry. In the future, the EWI would like to pass this knowledge on to practitioners in the form of training courses.

For this purpose, the EWI is launching the so-called “EWI Academy”. Within this framework, the institute offers structured trainings, workshops and seminars on energy industry topics. The target group are specialists and executives from the energy industry, politics, NGOs, associations, ministries as well as all sectors for whom an understanding of the current and future development of the energy system is becoming increasingly important.

The seminars can also be designed for individual focal points and issues. They can be held on-site or online, in German or English. Central to the program, in addition to EWI input, is the discussion of questions. In addition to individually tailored programs, the EWI offers the following seminars, which have already been successfully implemented:

  • Energy Economics Compact
  • Crash Course Energy Scenarios
  • Hydrogen economy – challenges and opportunities
  • E-Mobility – challenges and opportunities
