Analysis of the global gas markets until 2035

In the study “Analysis of the global gas markets until 2035”, which was commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the EWI analyses the development of the European gas supply depending on gas demand and supply in a total of six scenarios. The scenarios show the high relevance of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for the European gas supply until 2035. The expansion of European LNG regasification capacities assumed in the analysis would be sufficient to meet demand in the scenarios considered.

In addition to the simulation of the global gas markets, the analysis includes a gas balance analysis of gas supply in Germany. In all scenarios, Germany would have sufficient gas available until 2025. The gas storages would be sufficiently filled within the assessed time period and the legal storage obligations would be met.
